My PhD research focusses on the evolution of eye reduction in the spider genus Sinopoda. These spiders are distributed nearly in whole Asia, with some species inhabiting caves, and others dwelling outside of caves. The genus shows different levels of eye reduction, from 8 eyes to complete loss of eyes. I will use morphological and phylogenetic methods to investigate the temporal and spatial evolution of eye reduction.
