C3.1: AQUATIC ORGANISMS AND ECOSYSTEMS

Research interests:

1. Climate impact research: Ecotoxicological response of aquatic invertebrates (population dynamics, adaptive potential, biotic interactions) and ecosystems to pesticides under climate change conditions (/life-cycle/-experiments, multigenerational and mesocosm studies)

2. Sensitivity analysis of native and invasive species if exposed to multiple stressors; focused species:

Insecta: /Chironomus riparius, Chaoborus flavicans, Culex pipiens, Aedes albopictus/
Crustacea:/ Daphnia magna/
Mollusca: /Radix balthica, Melanoides tuberculata, Physa fontinalis, Physa acuta/

Study course:
Biology at the Free University Berlin

Diploma thesis:
'Effects of the herbicide metazachlor on aquatic macrophytes in lentic and lotic mesocosms', performed at the FSA of the Federal Environment Agency Berlin

PhD thesis:
'Interactive effects of temperature and UV radiation on Arctic and temperate kelps (Laminariales, Phaeophyceae) - with emphasis on early life-history stages', performed at the Alfred Wegener Institute, Bremerhaven
