Biography

Steven Higgins is an adjunct Professor at the Senckenberg Gesellschaft fuer Naturforschung’s Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre (BiK-F) where he contributes to BiK-F’s Data and Modelling Centre.

He is currently Professor of Botany at the University of Otago. Before that (2007 to 2013) he was a Professor in Physical Geography at the Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main.

His research interests lie in understanding how interactions between organisms and the environment influence vegetation patterns. He uses experimental studies, monitoring of ecological processes and dynamic modelling.
