B3.10: BIODIVERSITY AND AREA DYNAMICS OF VERTEBRATES

I am interested in species communities and their ecosystems functions, particularly in plant-animal interactions. In my current project I focus on mutualistic seed dispersal interactions among frugivourous birds and fruiting plants across an elevational and land use gradient. Particularly, I seek to investigate whether artificial fruits can be used as a functional indicator to monitor the ecosystem function avian seed dispersal.
My research is part of the project "Development and validation of functional indicators for avian seed dispersal" which is part of the “Platform for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Monitoring and Research in South Ecuador”. I am supervised by Prof. Dr. Katrin Böhning-Gaese and Dr. Eike Lena Neuschulz.
