F2.4 | ADAPTIVES MANAGEMENT VON KÜSTENÖKOSYSTEM-DIENSTLEISTUNGEN AM INSELMODELL

Der Verlust mariner Ökosystemleistungen durch klimabedingte Veränderungen bedroht, besonders in Ländern der Subtropen und Tropen, die Lebensgrundlage von vielen Millionen Menschen. Das Klimasignal beeinflusst Küsten-ESS durch Variablen wie den globalen Anstieg der Meeresspiegel und Wassertemperaturen, vermehrte Starkwetterereignisse und veränderte Niederschläge, und auch Hydrodynamik, Wasserchemie und Nährstoffangebot. Insbesondere bei Korallenriffen führt der Temperaturanstieg und die pH-Wert Absenkung des Wassers zu strukturellen und trophischen Veränderungen, bis hin zu marginalen Korallengemeinschaften. Es wird erwartet, dass sich diese Veränderungen negativ auf die Diversität sowie die Produktivität insbesondere fischereilich genutzter Ressourcen auswirken, zu erhöhtem Nutzungsdruck auf andere ESS führen, und somit angepasstes Management erfordern. Das Projekt untersucht, welche systemischen Veränderungen von Küsten-ESS der Klimawandel in tropischen Inselsystemen mit a) marginalen und mit b) klassischen biogenen Riffen verursacht und welche Erfordernisse für ein angepasstes Management sich daraus ergeben.
Am Beispiel des Biodiversitäts-Hotspots Sokotra soll ein Sozial-ökologisches Inselsystem (Insel-SES) und Küstennutzungsregime unter systematischer Beschreibung der ESS ausgearbeitet werden. Ein zentraler Aspekt ist eine integrierte (biologisch-sozial-ökonomische) Vulnerabilitätsanalyse des SES Sokotra, insbesondere ein Vergleich der Vulnerabilität der ESS marginaler Riffe im Inselsystem Sokotra mit jener klassischer Riffe eines anderen Inselsystems (z.B. Rodriguez, Indischer Ozean). Die Arbeitsschritte umfassen: 1) Multikriterielle Erfassung und Kartierung der ESS (unter Verwendung von Fernerkundungs- und GIS[Geoinformationssystem]-Verfahren als innovativer Zugang zu ESS); 2) ökologische und ökonomische Bilanzierung der erfassten ESS; 3) Modellierung bzw. Szenarienentwicklung und Trade-off-Analyse; 4) Anpassungsempfehlungen für Ressourcenmanagement, Naturschutz und Regierungshandeln (Governance). Die konzeptionelle Ausrichtung des Projektes im Hinblick auf die Analyse der ESS wird in Zusammenarbeit mit der PG F1 erarbeitet.

Das Projekt ist Teil des Arbeitsprogramms der Querschnittsarbeitsgruppe Tropisch-marine Systeme (TMS) und baut insbesondere auf den Projekten F5.1 und F5.2 (s.u. F2.4) und B2.3 der ersten LOEWE- Förderphase sowie auf Arbeiten der Sektion Ichthyologie der SGN auf. Auch in der zweiten Förderphase bleibt der ursprüngliche Ansatz der AG TMS einer integrierten (biologisch-sozial-ökologischen) Forschung durch eine enge Vernetzung mit TMS-Projekten in Projektbereich B und auch A erhalten. Er trägt zur Bearbeitung der BiK-F Querschnittsthemen "Biotische Interaktionen" und "Multiple Stressoren", sowie des Fokusökosystems "Schelfökosysteme" bei.. Als logistische Plattform im Jemen dient eine durch SGN und BiK-F auf Sokotra betriebene Feldforschungsstation  sowie ein Netzwerk lokaler Mitarbeiter.
